Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past two years, you probably know that Taylor Swift, aka America’s Sweetheart, has been dating Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chief’s star quarterback. The duoo officially went public in September 2023, preempting Taylor’s Eras world tour and Kelce’s 2024 Superbowl win. Talk about a power couple. Unlike her last relationship, Kelce and Swift have spent considerable time soaking up the spotlight. These two have been snapped leaving parties, on vacation, and just generally soaking up each other’s love.

Now, just two years later they’re making things official. Swift posted an Instagram post featuring sweet photos of Kelce kneeling and embracing Swift amidst dozens and dozens of stunning white and pink bouquets. Cue the world collectively freaking out.

So What Does the Taylor Swift Engagement Ring Look Like?/

Ahh, yes, the question on everyone’s lips – just what does the Taylor Swift engagement ring look like? Lucky for us, Swift also posted a close-up of the ring. Let’s start with that sparkler, and what a sparkler it is! Jury is currently out on whether Swift’s engagement ring is an old mine or elongated cushion cut but it is definitively an antique diamond. How do we know? Look closely at the ring and you will see a small black dot – that tells us the diamonds culet isn’t there which is a feature of older, antique rings. The stone was most likely hand cut to sparkle like crazy in candlelight. The color? Colorless. The clarity? VVS1 at least. The carat size? While harder to tell, most likely between 8-10 carats.

A Shiny Setting

Of course, no diamond is complete without its setting. And the Taylor Swift engagement ring spares no attention to detail. Featuring a mini split shank, Swift’s ring is collet set, a type of ring setting similar to the bezel. Here, a thin rim of metal encircles the stone around it’s girdle and four prongs, one on each corner, ensure further ring security. It’s a super chic look that we’re seeing more and more of. Apparently, Kelce worked very closely with its designer, Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. Enrobed in gold, Swift’s ring is just like her, deeply complex, sentimental, and oh-so-sparkly. And to be expected from the singer who penned the lyrics, “Best believe I’m still bejeweled / When I walk in the room. / I make the whole place shimmer.”

What makes Swift’s engagement ring so true to her is its antique nature. Of course, a songstress known for captivating millions with lyrical prose would find herself drawn to a diamond that owns its own deeply-storied narrative. It would very much like to be included in the narrative, thank you.
